Jim Collins recently graduated with a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon. In addition to his education in architecture, Jim brings experience in visual arts and writing to Rowell Brokaw.
Before pursuing his graduate degree, Jim was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. He studied studio arts, focusing on painting and drawing, and spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy, where he gained an appreciation for Renaissance art and architecture. After his undergraduate education, Jim continued his creative pursuits in painting and drawing, and worked as a technical editor in the information security industry.
Jim began his graduate studies in architecture because he knew the field would combine his dual inclination for creativity and analysis. At the University of Oregon, he learned sustainable design strategies, and served as a Graduate Employee teaching assistant for three classes covering a variety of subjects in architecture. Jim brings empathy, curiosity, and thoughtfulness to the profession.
When he is not immersed in architecture, Jim enjoys reading fiction, sketching, and playing board games. He also loves spending time outside, and recently took up bird watching.
