Construction Update: OSU Ship Operations Dock Renewal

Work has begun on construction of OSU's Ship Operations Dock and support area at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. Demolition of the deck of the circa 1963 Trestle and pier is complete.

Andersen Construction's team has a short window of time to finish all in-water work (by Feb.1) for environmental habitat considerations. Demolition and new pile install are dependent on high-tide access.

The construction team's next major task will be to extract the +/-60-year-old timber piles that supported the old deck structure.

Work will also renew the upland causeway connection from the Ship Operations warehouse to the new trestle and pier.

Andersen Construction and Rowell Brokaw are leading this design-build project. Other key team members include Bergerson Construction, Inc., with their expertise in marine construction, and KPFF Portland, with their civil and structural engineering complimented by marine engineers from their Special Project Division. This complex project also demands many technical experts, including Elcon Associates, Inc. for marine electrical engineering, Pacific Habitat Services, Inc. for the regional marine permitting process, Wolf Water Resources for hydraulics and hydrology, and NIS Consulting for low voltage and security standards. Rowell Brokaw is very excited to be a part of this talented and specialized team.
