The new UO housing residence hall has officially been named the DeNorval Unthank Jr. Hall. Unthank was the first African American to graduate from UO’s School of Architecture and Allied Arts (now called the College of Design). He later became an associate professor at the UO from 1965-1980.

Unthank Hall is on course to be completed for students in the fall. Ongoing exterior activities include completing canopies, installing wood and metal soffits, final curtain wall elements (caps, operable windows, and doors), site walls and sidewalks, and rough grading of landscape. Ongoing interior activities include food service equipment installation, dining venue bases installed, casework installation, finishes in dorm rooms, and painting residential floors.
