2023 Winter Practicum Student, Daniel Arteaga

Winter practicum student, Daniel Arteaga, reviewing his work with mentors Britni Jessup and Chris Andrejko.

Over the course of his three months at RBA, Daniel worked on a variety of projects, including on the design development of a student residential remodel, renderings for a commercial space, research on biophilic design and on the International Living Future Institute’s Just label, and RBA’s latest T-shirt design (the waffle house). He went on site visits, punch walks, and attended meetings for a range of large and small academic, commercial, and multifamily housing projects.

His biggest takeaway was on how a firm effectively communicates with construction teams.

He was surprised at how heavily involved architects are in the construction process even after the project is mainly built. He enjoyed expanding his knowledge of Revit and Lumion and honing his rendering skills.

A Los Angeles native, Daniel is a 5th year student in the undergraduate program at the University of Oregon’s School of Architecture & Environment. After graduating and completing a summer internship, he plans to attend graduate school and has applied to programs mostly on the West Coast. He loves architecture because “it truly brings the imaginary into the real world.”
