Brooke McDonald

Designer

Brooke is a designer whose interests include sustainable design, housing, and high-tech laboratory and healthcare facilities. She has ten years of experience working in the highly regulated world of lab safety. In addition to detail and problem-solving skills, Brooke has a strong affinity for design. Prior to earning her M.Arch at the University of Oregon, Brooke worked as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional in Boston where she obtained the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential and developed an extensive understanding of chemical and biological safety as well as process design. During this time, she led high-impact, cross-functional projects involving regulatory agencies, consultants, and multiple user groups. She was also involved in multiple laboratory buildouts.

Brooke’s life-long passion for sustainability and environmental stewardship drove her to seek a B.A. from Boston University with majors in both biology and environmental analysis & policy. During her architectural education, she took classes in historic preservation, housing, and sustainable urbanism after recognizing the importance each plays in building sustainable communities. In her final year at UO, Brooke worked part-time with a Bend-based architecture firm and contributed on several large multi-family projects.
