Design Update: Pendant Lighting for the Cascade Middle School
LightArt's Acoustic Drum pendant will hang in the Commons area of Bethel School District’s Cascade Middle School. The bright yellow fixtures feature LED lighting and the PET felt shade helps with sound absorption.
Suspended from various heights from the wood ceiling, with 30-inch diameters and heights of 24 inches or 36 inches, these large pendants will add to the overall inviting textures and warmth of the space while creating diffuse light. The Rowell Brokaw interiors team chose these fixtures because they wanted something fun, surprising, and welcoming that would resonate with a similar paint tone used elsewhere in the building.
When sample pendants arrived in the Rowell Brokaw office, several architects—Britni, Mark, Patrick, and Matt—immediately started investigating the lights’ components. It was like catnip—a gadget had been thrown in our midst. There were many Alice-in-Wonderland moments in which the pendants threw off our sense of scale. In the actual, double-height space, the pendants will be just right.
