Market District Townhomes

Situated at the base of dramatic Skinner’s Butte, the Market District Townhomes will form a new neighborhood with twenty homes on a compact 1.7-acre lot. There are three basic unit types. Along Shelton McMurphey Boulevard, there are six, 1,200-square-foot, two-bedroom units and four, 1,500-square-foot, three-bedroom units with roof gardens. Uphill to the north, at the base of the Butte, there are ten, 2,500-square-foot, three-bedroom units. All twenty units have porches, decks, and panoramic views of the valley to the south. One-car garages are accessed from an internal, landscaped street. The landscaping is based on plants and trees native to the Butte and creates a lush street edge and tree-lined interior street.

The industrial and urban nature of the area is reflected in the design’s simple forms, durable materials, and bold colors. This project is an opportunity to create a neighborhood next to one of the most significant and iconic landforms in the valley—Skinner’s Butte—that is tightly integrated within the urban experience of Eugene. The surrounding area is a vibrant mix of historical homes, businesses, agricultural industries, and civic buildings, all within walking distance of the central 5th Street Market District full of restaurants and shops.
