Ready for Class: OSU Owen Hall

The Owen Hall project grew out of a water damage event affecting the entire west wing of the building. With two of Owen’s large lecture halls impacted by the damage, OSU had the opportunity to address several existing shortcomings. Improvements include classroom accessibility, audio/visual upgrades, and enhanced support of current pedagogy that promotes student engagement and flexibility.

Rowell Brokaw was asked to be the architect for both the water damage restoration and the lecture hall upgrades. Due to the nature of the water damage impact and extent of repair, several additional design tasks were incorporated into the project including envelope analysis, DAS installation, Corvallis Historic Review Committee review and approval for exterior work, elevator modernization, and the addition of a Lighting Lab for the Architectural Engineering program.
