RBA Welcomes Carly Bushman

Architect Carly Bushman has joined the Rowell Brokaw team!

Carly closely collaborates with project teams, owners, and end-users to envision and implement designs that connect people to their built environment. She deftly fuses technical detail with design intent as she guides projects from initial programming through documentation and construction. Carly has worked on a wide range of project types, including K-12 schools early learning centers, multi-family housing, and various commercial and public projects.

Originally from Denver, Carly obtained a Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in Interior Architecture from the University of Oregon.

Since graduating, she has been a committee member for Diversity in Design and helped launch “Formation: The Design Mentorship Collaborative,” a mentorship program for college students and design professionals identifying as black, indigenous, and/or people of color.

Since joining Rowell Brokaw, Carly has been working on Bethel School District Danebo Elementary School Gym and Classroom Addition and Fern Ridge School District District-Wide Classroom and Interior Renovations.

To better get to know her, Carly answered a few questions.

What is your favorite book or movie?

My favorite book that I read this year was The Backyard Bird Chronicles by Amy Tan. I have never considered myself a "birder," but her book inspired me to get a hummingbird feeder, and it brings me joy every time I see a hummingbird outside of our window.

If you could be a character in a book or movie, who would it be?

I would be an otori-sama, a spirit resembling a giant chicken or duck, from the movie Spirited Away because I think they're cute and I love a spa day.

Would you rather fight one horse-sized UO duck or 100 OSU beaver-sized horses?

I would rather fight 100 OSU beaver-sized horses because I am lowkey afraid of mascots, especially Puddles.
