Fern Ridge School District District-Wide Classroom and Interior Renovations
As part of the successful passage of a bond measure in 2024, Fern Ridge School District is improving classrooms, restrooms, and interiors throughout the district.
Fern Ridge Middle School will be renovated to create a suite of science classrooms, a pair of maker spaces, and updated restrooms. The existing classrooms do not meet the requirements of the science curriculum. Space planning will involve right sizing the classrooms and their supporting storage space. Creating flexible classrooms accommodating multiple workspace arrangements will provide various learning environments and allow for future changes in the curriculum. The maker spaces will provide the school with even larger flexible rooms, capable of supporting a variety of CTE courses. Equipping these new spaces with sinks, access to power throughout the room, and modern A/V systems will also be essential in supporting the curriculum.
Elmira High School will also receive modernization upgrades to its existing science rooms, with full interior improvements to include floors, ceilings, walls, and casework.
At Veneta Elementary School, the gym will be given new flooring, ceilings, and wall finishes; improved acoustics; bleachers and scoreboard. The finishes are an opportunity to reinvigorate the space with subtle materials that complement the school colors—purple and yellow—and inspire school pride. In addition to the gym, one of the main restrooms will be completely remodeled into single and multiple user restrooms that will improve accessibility, circulation, monitoring, and safety.
These district-wide improvements are taking place during two construction phases, Summer 2025 and Summer 2026, to minimize disruption to the schools.
