UO Women’s Beach Volleyball Locker Rooms

The University of Oregon athletic department constructed a dedicated locker room for the Women’s Beach Volleyball team. By remodeling and expanding vacant coaches’ offices and meeting space inside Matthew Knight Arena, the facility now features a welcoming entry, custom lockers, and a full restroom area—providing athletes with an inspiring, supportive space close to Duck Dunes, the team’s home courts.

Inspired by coastal aesthetics, the design uses custom cabinetry and a felt baffle acoustic ceiling system to evoke sand dunes and driftwood. Scattered yellow tiles in the restroom suggest beach sand, while plush stools, soft seating, and carpeting complete the warm environment. The wrap-around wall mural in the entry blends tropical coastal themes with Pacific Northwest imagery and University of Oregon branding. Within the main changing area, each athlete has a personalized locker with integrated storage and seating. Soft cove lighting illuminates the entry and locker room while helping the ceilings feel higher and more open.
