Justen Stiles, CPHC
Designer
Justen has a profound appreciation for design that is both aesthetically enduring and environmentally responsible. As a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC), he looks for opportunities to increase energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and environmental stewardship in all designs. He has joined Rowell Brokaw’s sustainability group and is part of the firm’s effort, as a signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment, to achieve carbon-neutral new buildings, developments, and major renovations by 2030. In addition to his technical ability to employ sustainable strategies, Justen excels at collaborating with large project teams and producing high-quality renderings and graphics. He has served as project manager, BIM manager, and envelope and core design lead from pre-design through construction on a range of projects. His experience includes multi-family housing, K-12 schools, and higher education facilities, as well as numerous single-family houses and targeted renovations.
After receiving a B.S. in Environmental Science and Sustainability and a B.A. in Art History from Drew University, Justen attained an M.Arch from the University of Oregon. While a graduate student, he specialized in Architectural Technology with a focus on Mass Timber design and sustainable construction methods. He has worked for local firms Studio.e Architecture and PIVOT Architecture and the housing advocacy group Better Housing Together.
