Before/After of People's Bank Renovation
811 Willamette is a major tenant improvement and building systems upgrade to a classic mid-century Eugene downtown building. The central ceiling of the original concrete waffle slab is exposed to celebrate the bones of the building and provide a welcoming lobby space.
In late April of 2024, People’s Bank hosted a demolition celebration. People’s Bank acquired this iconic building because of its central location and the opportunity for revitalization. The remodel serves as a testament to this community bank’s commitment to the area. As the bank said in a media release before the demolition, “By investing in this prime downtown location, the bank aims to create a dynamic and welcoming environment for customers while contributing to the economic vitality of the community."
When the existing acoustic ceiling tiles were removed, the A/E/C team was delighted by the state of the waffle slab: it was well-preserved and could be used with minimal interventions.
Below are a few before-and-after pics of the space.
