Project Update: Mid-Willamette Family YMCA Veterans Project
Our team is working with Mid-Willamette Family YMCA and Home First Development to develop affordable housing in East Albany for veterans earning at or below 60% of the area median income.
The three story, 36,000-sf building includes 38 one-bedroom units. All the apartments open onto covered outdoor walkways accessing a shared community courtyard. On the ground floor, the lobby, a meeting room, and other shared community spaces also connect to the central courtyard, which features covered outdoor patio space, gardening beds, and various seating and outdoor recreation options.
The street-facing sides of the building are organized into articulated angled bays, which define the apartments and create a clear rhythm to the façades. Clad in vertical metal panels with interspersed color accents, the façades create a memorable home for the residents. The vibrant exterior is contrasted with the more organic treatment of the residential interior courtyard.
The project is targeting construction in the fall of 2026.
