Cascade Middle School Grand Opening
Last week, hundreds of students and community members from the Bethel School District turned out for the grand opening of the Cascade Middle School. Thanks to voters approving a bond measure in 2020 which allowed the school district to replace a 67-year-old school, the new middle school will open its doors tomorrow to students for the school year. Below are pictures from last week’s ceremony.
The ceremony included speeches, bands, a ribbon cutting, the opening of lockers, and a first glimpse of the new school.
A highlight for the RBA team was experiencing the liveliness of the Commons during the grand opening. A roughly 3,500-sf, double-height space, the Commons was designed for informal gathering and dining. It serves as the hub of the school, visually connecting to the main entry and lobby, administration, Media Center, classroom wing, and outdoor spaces. With its warm wood walls and ceiling finishes, with its open and expansive atmosphere, with its striking mural by artist Pattrick Price, the Commons is meant to give students a sense of inclusivity, connectivity, and possibility.
