Little free libraries

A few of Eugene's Little Free Libraries are featured in Eugene Magazine's Fall 2015 issue (article by Mikael Krummel). Rowell Brokaw's Mark Young along with his wife, Susan are pictured above with the Little Free Library they designed along with neighbor, Shane McCloskey.  Mark was encouraged by his wife Susan Hirata to design a library box in his neighborhood. Susan first learned about the Little Free Library movement in Sunset Magazine and was inspired to create a library box in her neighborhood.

A little history on the LFL concept.....
The LFL concept was born in 2009 by Tod Bols in Hudson, Wisconsin, as a tribute to his mother—a dedicated reader and former schoolteacher.  The quaint, low-tech movement quickly spread across the US and is now international and continuing to grow.
