Lane Community College Adaptive Re-Use Project
Rowell Brokaw Architects and Opsis Architecture worked together on this group of four large projects, a major $8 million warehouse adaptive re-use at Lane Community College totaling 80,000 sf. The overall project was a full conversion of an industrial hanger to a new academic building, and partial renovation of adjacent building. Together, the renovations provide facilities for four programs that held field changes related to architectural scope (not counting underground discovery and mechanical changes) to just under 1%.
The project was scheduled around the academic calendar to allow construction to meet the opening of Fall Term 2011, and involved extensive coordination with facilities staff, academic user groups and college administration. Phasing move out and re-opening of Building 10 was scheduled around the academic year, while the partial renovation of Building 11 was completed in the summer to minimize reduction in classes.
Rowell Brokaw Architects provided overall project management, consultant coordination and building envelope analysis and design. Included in the renovation were extensive seismic upgrades, analysis of the existing roof, and enclosure upgrades and detailing.
