Eugene City Hall featured topic at AIA-SWO's January meeting

In 2012, Eugene City Hall was vacated in preparation for a long-awaited transformation. Last summer, Rowell Brokaw Architects was selected by the City of Eugene to lead the effort to rebuild this important place.

Principal John Rowell and Designer/Project Manager Kaarin Knudson presented the Eugene City Hall's project scope, goals, and preliminary design concepts at a recent AIA Southwestern Oregon chapter meeting.

Presentation Points included:

  • Local architectural history and the 1964 Eugene City Hall history and its design process;
  • Influence of mid-century urban design concepts and mid-century modernism in Eugene;
  • Project’s goals and preliminary design concepts;
  • Strategies that support design excellence within the Phase 1 scope and project budget;
  • An understanding of the City’s long-term efforts to revitalize Downtown Eugene.
