Online Survey Tool Developed for State of Washington's Developmental Disabilities Department
Rowell Brokaw Architects and George Braddock of Creative Housing Solutions are currently working with the State of Washington's Department of Developmental Disabilities to develop an online survey tool to assist families and caregivers. George Braddock, a national expert on housing issues for people living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) is the lead investigator of this study. The purpose of the study is to aid in Washington's transition from institutional care to group homes. The survey asks general questions which could help to determine if the housing in which individuals have been placed is working. If the housing is working, what does it tell us about the key criteria for selection of future homes? Mr. Braddock and his team visited and evaluated several homes in each region where householders are people who previously lived in a state Residential Habilitation Center (RHC). An array of housing types and living arrangements were analyzed.
