In 2009, a group of Jeffersonians with dreams of building a new library for their community formed the non-profit organization, Friends of Jefferson Library. In order to fund this capital project independent of the city, FOJL spent several years fundraising – with everything from bake sales to foundation sponsorship.

Construction Underway at Jefferson Library

After seven years of passionate fundraising, the Jefferson Library is under construction. Adjacent to the City Hall, the library will serve its growing population's needs, offering multi-media services and a civic meeting room.

Jefferson Library featured in Democrat-Herald

Residents have worked since 2009 to create a new library for this small town, and their efforts are finally paying off. A groundbreaking for the new Jefferson Public Library, which will be adjacent to City Hall, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. March 23. “I’m giddy,” said Linda Baker, president of the Friends of the Jefferson Library. “This group has worked a long time.”
